TAP

Tap is a lively and rhythmic dance style where dancers create sounds and intricate beats using their feet as percussion instruments, made possible by wearing specially designed shoes with metal taps on the soles.

Rooted in rich history and widely recognised on stage and screen, tap dance ranges from the smooth stylings of Fred Astaire to cutting-edge contemporary street tap. Our classes focus on developing clear rhythms, mastering complex footwork, and exploring musicality through tempo changes and creative weight transfers.

Students are introduced to a variety of styles, encouraging versatility and self-expression while improving coordination, timing, and agility. Tap also helps strengthen the legs and core, making it a fantastic complement to any dancer’s training, especially those interested in musical theatre.

We teach the A.T.O.D. Ltd Tap Syllabus, offering structured training across 12 levels from Test 1 to Advanced, with students progressing through each grade as their technique, strength, and confidence grow.

For dancers aged 3-5, Tap dance is offered within our preschool dance program. Please refer to the Preschool tab for more information.
