ACROBATICS

Acrobatics is a dynamic and athletic style that blends elements of gymnastics, dance, and strength-based movement. It focuses on controlled tricks such as balances, limbering, tumbling, and partner work.

Dancers develop strength, flexibility, agility, and spatial awareness while learning to execute acrobatic skills safely and confidently. Movements are taught progressively, with an emphasis on correct technique, control, and injury prevention.

We currently have 5 levels running to ensure all ages and abilities are accounted for. Students progress through each level as their technique, strength, and flexibility develop, laying the foundation for impressive and expressive performance work that complements all dance styles.

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance is a powerful and expressive style that blends elements of classical ballet, modern dance, and lyrical movement. It focuses on emotional connection, fluidity, and grounded technique, allowing dancers to explore both freedom and control through movement.

Known for its versatility and creativity, contemporary dance encourages dancers to express stories, emotions, and abstract ideas. It develops strength, flexibility, musicality, and body awareness through a combination of technical exercises, floor work, and expressive choreography.

We teach the A.T.O.D. Ltd Contemporary Syllabus, offering a clear and progressive structure across 12 graded levels. Each level guides students to grow in skill, artistry, and confidence, providing a strong foundation for performance and personal expression.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical Theatre is a vibrant and theatrical dance style that combines singing, acting, and dancing into one dynamic performance. It draws inspiration from stage shows, films, and Broadway musicals, allowing students to step into character and tell stories through movement and voice.

This genre focuses on expression, stage presence, and performance skills, helping dancers build confidence and versatility. Classes include vocal work, acting exercises, and stylised choreography from a wide range of musical genres and eras.

We teach the A.T.O.D. Ltd Musical Theatre Syllabus, which offers structured training across multiple graded levels. Each level supports students in developing their technique, characterisation, and performance quality in a fun, creative, and supportive environment.

COMPETITIVE DANCE & PERFORMANCE GROUPS

For dancers who thrive on performance, precision, and passion, our Competitive Dance program offers exciting opportunities to shine on stage locally, domestically and internationally!

Outside of our regular timetable, we offer Private Tuition for students wishing to refine their technique, prepare for examinations, or perform as soloists at local and national eisteddfods. These one-on-one sessions are tailored to each dancer’s goals, helping them achieve their personal best.

For those who love the energy of group performance and the spirit of teamwork, we also offer Competition/ Performance Groups. These dedicated groups train weekly and proudly represent Broadbent Dance Academy at competitions and community events throughout the year. A year with one of our performance groups often looks like: 4 local competitions, one mid-year performance concert, three end-of-year concerts and an optional domestic or international travel and performance opportunity.

Our competitive pathways are designed to build confidence, resilience, and stage experience in a supportive and inspiring environment.
